I am Abba Gambo, an Agricultural Extension and Research professional with extensive experience in agricultural research, extension services, agribusiness operations, and farm management across Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. My work is driven by a strong commitment to translating research into practical solutions that improve productivity, strengthen farming systems, and support sustainable rural development.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree (M.Tech) in Agricultural Education and Extension from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria. My academic background provides a solid foundation for evidence-based decision-making, farmer education, and applied agricultural research.

Currently, I serve as a Senior Research Officer at the Lake Chad Research Institute, Maiduguri, where I have been actively engaged since October 2015. In this role, I lead and support agricultural extension research programs, coordinate field surveys, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and ensure that research findings are effectively communicated to farmers, institutions, and development stakeholders. My focus is on driving impact through research, monitoring and evaluation, farmer capacity building, and strengthening linkages between research systems and farming communities.

In addition to my institutional role, I work as an Agricultural Research Consultant, providing advisory services in agricultural development planning, extension strategy, farm operations, and research-to-practice integration. I collaborate with organizations, projects, and agribusinesses to deliver practical, cost-effective, and results-oriented solutions.

Previously, I worked for over two decades as a Senior Supervisor at Albawasiq Dates Factory in Al Bukayrīyah, Al Qasim, Saudi Arabia, from July 2004 to November 2024. In this capacity, I oversaw end-to-end farm operations, including date palm production, post-harvest handling, storage, quality control, staff supervision, and operational planning. I was responsible for ensuring efficient workforce performance, maintaining production and safety standards, managing farm equipment and facilities, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. I also worked closely with research teams on soil management and date palm production strategies to maintain consistent quality output.

Earlier in my career, I served as a Community Facilitator under the Third National FADAMA Development Project (FADAMA III) in Borno State, where I supported participatory development planning, facilitated the formation of farmer groups, and promoted inclusive stakeholder engagement. I also worked as an Agriculture Class Teacher at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi Secondary School in Maiduguri, an experience that strengthened my capacity for knowledge transfer, mentorship, and capacity building.

I have undertaken several professional trainings in areas such as the Operation and Management of the National Farmers’ Helpline, Commercial Agriculture and Water Management, and Computer Appreciation. My professional strengths include agricultural extension methodologies, research coordination, farm and agribusiness management, data analysis, report writing, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving in complex field environments.

I am fluent in Kanuri (native), Hausa, and English, which allows me to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders. I remain focused on delivering practical, scalable, and sustainable agricultural solutions that create measurable impact for farmers, institutions, and development partners.
